September 2026

Not a high volume reading month as I was ill for several days. In fact, I went a whole week without reading anything except a couple of short stories. I think the last time I went that long without reading was when I had the measles in 1950something. And then someone read to me. No way this time. My hospital room was so noisy that my daughter brought me Grand Central: Original Stories of Postwar Love and Reunion. She also brought me an anthology of thriller short stories and an old issue of Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. I never got to either of those

As I was recovering at home, I spent a lot of time on the Internet researching food options for a radical change in diet. Not fascinating reading. There sure is a lot of crap about "healthy eating" out there.

This also the first month since February 2025 that I haven't read a book with "last" in the title. (I did have two that I started but DNF:  The Last Checkmate by Saab, Gabriella and  The Last Time I Lied by Sager, Riley.)  I may give the Saab a second try.

What I  did read was very good -- all six novels got 4 stars on my Goodreads list.
